A sheepdog lost his hearing and learned sign language to continue his lovely mission
Duke grew up as a sheepdog from his birth. He was trained to guard the sheep, and lived in the farm. Duke was proud of his job. He liked to protect the sheep and feel himself useful. His owners also loved him a lot.
However, at the age of seven Duke became deaf. The owners thought that it was because of the age of Duke that he was deaf. And they believe that there was no way to help Duke. Then, the keepers took the dog to a shelter in order to bring a young sheepdog.
A week later, the shelter was full and it was very difficult for the deaf dog to live in the crowded environment. And the owners of Duke decided to take the dog to the ranch again to live with the other two shepherd dogs.
Interestingly enough, as soon as the dog saw the sheep, his eyes shined again, he became very happy.
Thus, the owners started to teach the dog the sign language in order to continue his mission.
Duke was very clever and immediately learned a lot of tricks. He began to guard the sheep again. He again felt himself useful. He was really happy.
