When speaking of beauty we first understand the physical appearance, but not the appearance from within.
The dog in the picture, Phoenix has a very beautiful soul, but no one sees it when looking at his face. However, he only wants to be loved like all other dogs.
Phoenix’s story began over a year before he was left behind as a lost child. He got a lot of attention when people saw him wandering around the neighborhood looking for food. But as everyone stared intently at Phoenix’s countenance, they refuse to feed him.
This has led many to consider it an abnormal or “terrible” creature. But a few people luckily helped him.
The Skiatook Paw Animal Shelter didn’t hesitate to save him when staff received a phone call about this poor dog. They didn’t care about his face and decided to help him. When Rescue saw Phoenix, it was clear he had been someone’s dog before. Yet, given his defect, it was also clear that his former parents had done nothing to ensure he received proper care.
After a medical examination it turned out that the dog had a lot of swelling and pain in the face.
The rescue team still doesn’t know what led to Phoenix’s unique appearance. When we found him, he was not at all shy, quite the contrary. He understood that everything he had been through in the past.
The shelter looked after him well and prepared him for adoption.
