Poor foal who lost his mother has now found a new family
The life of this little stallion was hard after he was abandoned by his own mother following his appearance.
Surrounded by tenderness, the desperate animal survived difficult times. While Ben’s mother was pregnant when she came to the Reserves in England.
But she was not ready to become a mother. Unfortunately the staff did their best to prepare for what happened next. And following her appearance, she abandoned her baby!
“Mare and newborn were either separated or showing signs of the usual mating process,” the shelter wrote.
“We dutifully tried to encourage her to take it, but this young mum just wouldn’t want to be near her baby – she clearly rejected him.”
They gave him a bottle for 34 hours and spent a lot of time with him, making him feel comfortable. But still, Ben was always there for him, needed someone to warmly protect him, and only his mother could do that.
So the shelter staff decide to introduce another mare and surprisingly it didn’t take long before the two became inseparable.
