“I’m not proud of way I behaved during that time …”
Kris Jenner is talking candidly about a “mistake” that still bothers her. The mother of Khloé Kardashian discussed her affair with her late ex-husband, Robert Kardashian Sr., who Khloé’s father was married to from 1978 to 1991, with her daughter on this week’s episode of The Kardashians. After Jenner’s 1989 affair with soccer player and animator Todd Waterman—which she describes as her “biggest regret in life”—the two eventually broke up.
The mother-daughter pair discussed Khloé’s past relationship with her ex-boyfriend Tristan Thompson, who also happens to be the father of her two children, Tatum and True. He was renowned for repeatedly cheating on Khloé. Khloé questioned Kris, attempting to delve into the thoughts of a cheater, “What was your mindset when you cheated? When you did that with my dad, and you had four kids and you had a family? Yes, I know you were really young …”
Kris answered back, stating that “being really young and dumb is something that plays into it, because you don’t really understand the consequences of your actions.”
Khloé persisted and inquired more, “But what was my dad not doing that made you want to look elsewhere?”
“I don’t know, because he was such a great husband and such a great dad, and I think that I fell into a situation where I thought that the grass was greener somewhere else, and I made a huge mistake,” Jenner conceded. “That’s my life’s biggest regret.”
“When I got divorced, Robert and I became best friends. We talked on phone all day long, helped each other through things all the time, and I did have regrets,” during a confessional, Kris stated that she hoped Khloé would reconsider completely ending her relationship with Thompson. “I thought, Wow, what I was thinking? So, I want Khloé to be really careful when she makes these decisions and she has to let somebody go.”
The video rewinded to Jenner and Kardashian’s chat, during which Jenner said she regretted her choice, but she is sure that everything happened as it was supposed to.
“I’m not proud of way I behaved during that time, but you know what? Everything happens for a reason,” she said. “I really do live my life by thinking God has a plan, and without that whole thing happening, there never would’ve been Kendall and Kylie [Jenner].”
