Following Kyle Richards’ statement that she was “hurt” by the pictures of Mauricio and Emma holding hands, Mauricio Umansky and Emma Slater disclosed the truth about their relationship.
Following pictures of them holding hands during a break from Dancing with the Stars rehearsals, Emma Slater and MauMauricio Umansky announced to fans that they are not dating. While getting ready for their next performance on the ABC competition series, the couple recorded a video for Mauricio’s Instagram Stories on October 26. In it, they made it clear that they are just friends and dancing partners.
“We do want to address this story and this whole thing that’s going out and about about whether Emma and I are dating,” Mauricio, 53, said after his separated wife, Kyle Richards, responded to the dating rumors on Watch What Happens Live the previous evening. “For full clarity, we are not dating,” he clarified.
“We’re not dating!” Standing behind Mauricio in the dance studio, Emma, 34, spoke up. Mauricio described them as just “really good friends,” but Emma clarified that their “intense” work on the program has given them a “special bond.”
“I think we’re similar personalities, so we’ve got a super supportive relationship,” Emma described her connection with Mauricio as “extremely supportive,” citing similarities in their personalities. “We’re definitely there for each other. And it’s beautiful, that’s a great thing.”
On October 22, the star of Buying Beverly Hills, who had divorced from his wife of 27 years earlier in the year, revealed the real story behind the images of him and Emma holding hands.

“And then we’re dating all of a sudden,” Emma laughed to herself. As he concluded, Mauricio assured the audience that they will “keep on dancing” and “keep on having fun” on the show.
One day after Kyle, 54, conjectured that her divorced husband would have gone on with Emma after their split, the dancing partners addressed the allegations surrounding their relationship. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills actress admitted to being “hurt” and “taken aback” by the PDA pictures of Mauricio and Emma, and she felt that the two celebrities had “something there.” She said this to Andy Cohen on his late-night show. Regarding Mauricio, Kyle continued, “Listen, I love him very much and we are amicable, but that really did hurt me.” The mother of four also acknowledged that, despite voting for Mauricio and Emma, she removed her affirmative DWTS posts from Instagram.
The breakup of Kyle and Mauricio was first reported in early July. The reality stars claimed in a statement at the time that no divorce was planned. Since then, they’ve come clean about their split. Kyle said on WWHL that although they still live together, they now sleep in different bedrooms. The latest season of RHOBH, which debuted on October 25, will follow their relationship’s problems.
