Over the years, Miley Cyrus has come clean about her sexual orientation on several occasions, acknowledging that she started
“My entire life, I didn’t understand my own gender and my own sexuality,” she previously stated to Variety. When I was in the fifth or sixth grade, my eyes began to open. I had a relationship with a chick my first time around.
“I’ve always detested the term ‘bisexual,’ as it even places me in a box.” I never give thought to whether someone is a boy or a girl. Cyrus went on to talk about her visit to an LGBTQ+ center in Los Angeles.
“I noticed a single person who did not identify as either male or female. I could relate to that person more than I could to anyone else in my life because they were tough,
attractive, and sexy, yet they were also vulnerable and feminine at the same time.
When Cyrus was eleven years old, she was cast as the beloved Disney character Hannah Montana. She has since admitted that this is when she started to explore her sexuality.
Miley acknowledged in the Variety interview that coming from a religious family in the South contributed to her struggles.
She claimed to the magazine that because Miley was “the reason she came out,” “a young girl started crying when she left” while she was on The Voice.
After that, according to Cyrus, “her mom started crying” and expressed regret for how Miley had been treated by her when she was younger, as well as going through the coming-out process.
